1/4 Scale 3PDR Garrison Tube, Steel

Description:
This steel tube is hand machined. Finished tubes are blued.
Will fit onto a 1/4 Scale 3 PDR Garrison carriage.

History:
A full size 3 PDR is 36" long used in field for easy and fast fireing. They were put on any type of carriage available. There were smaller alibers used in field and fort warfares.
A type of field carriage called a galloper. this was used for the lightest of the field guns, the 1 1/2 and sometimes the 3-pounders. It consisted of a cart with two shafts so that a single horse could be hitched directly to it, and offering side boxes and cheeks for the actual mounting of the piece. Guns on galloper carriages were normally attached directly to infantry units. Colloquially the galloper carriage was sometimes called a grasshopper carriage to distinguish it from a light gun with a limber, which was called a butterfly. These were slang terms, however, and sometimes they were used very loosely.
