1/10 Scale Man of War Carriage
Description:
This carriage is available in the following types of wood: Oak, Maple, Walnut, Ash.
Barrel length is 12".
History:
Man of War cannons were used by the British Navy during the early 1800's.
This replica features a fully functional gear style elevation mechanism, a 12" solid brass barrel, and red oak carriage.
It is classed in the heavy gun ship type used as an Elevation Gun to shoot holes in the floor of a ship to sink. It would elevate at 45 degrees making it very versatile but very heavy for normal use. The bore is 50cal and the total weight is about 10 pounds. It has a 12 inch barrel (brass) highly buffed and the carriage is about 4 inches wide and 6 inches long. It is 4 inches high with brass wheels and brass hardware. It has a rope that goes over the cascabel and under a shaft in the carriage which is used with gears on the side of the carriage to bring it back in battery. This is a very interesting cannon in its time.
